Train Shows In Denver and Along the Front Range

The aspen colors have nearly faded across the Rockies, and pro football is in full swing. The days are getting colder, and furnaces are beginning to fire up again. Indoor activities are just beginning to sound appealing. Model railroading looks like a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. What sounds good is a train show! That will get the creative juices flowing and give you a chance to learn from some seasoned modelers. Here's what's available....

This Weekend
Slimrail Model Railroad Club has their annual show tomorrow (Saturday) at Rampart High School, a large high school on the north side of Colorado Springs. Here's the official announcement:
30th Annual Slim Rail Model Railroad Exhibition, Saturday October 15, Rampart High School, 8250 Lexington Drive (at Union Blvd) from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm. Adults $4.00, kids with adult free, family $6.00. Operating layouts, tables  This event is hosted by the Pikes Peak Division of the Rocky Mountain Region, National Model Railroading Association (NMRA).



October 29
The Pikes Peak Division (semi-functional web site) of the National Model Railroaders Association (NMRA) is hosting a one-day show in Colorado Springs on October 29th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist on 20th Street.(view club map). According to the announcement:
This is the big Saturday-only fall show for the Pikes Peak Division of the NMRA. It features an excellent full-hhouse mix of individual and commercial vendors. Lunch is available on-site. HO modular display layout is featured.

November 12 & 13
Denver's train show is November 12th - 13th, 2011. The Great Train Expo will be at the National Western Complex on that Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m to 4 p.m. both days. Ages 12 and up are $7.00 and close in parking lots will likely cost $5.00 or more. For more details, please review the official press release or the event brochure.


November 26 & 27
The above is not to be confused with the Rocky Mountain Toy Train Show, occurring two weeks later on November 26th  - 27th at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Tickets can be bought in advance at King Soopers, or, if you  buy at the door of the event, you can print this coupon from the site for $1 off. Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The show's web site has complete descriptions of the events, exhibitors and area hotels offering reduced rates.


With this many options, you're bound to find at least one show that fits your schedule and location.
